SaRayRay

Yesterday evening the kids and I were going over to my friend Ryan's house for a little play time since both of our husband's were out of town.  As I was stalled in her neighborhood waiting for a car to get out of the middle of the street, 2 teenage boys were staring my way.  I had the sunroof open, but all the windows were rolled up.  I am quite certain they thought I couldn't hear what they were saying, or maybe they just didn't care if I heard (we all know how teenagers can be).  Nonetheless, I couldn't believe what was coming out of their mouths, just listen for yourselves.  "YO chick, I like yo rims." said one of the boys, and the other boy chimed in with "Yeah, you be pimpin' in dat ride!"  On one hand I wanted to crawl in a hole, and on the other I wanted to die laughing.

This is hilarious given the fact I never notice wheels, and didn't think much about them when we purchased the vehicle, until my husband, and dad, and brother, and every other male that sees it automatically comments on those "rims".  Some of our friends have even started calling me SaRayRay, with Aaron's encouragement of course.  Everyone who knows me, knows that I am the furthest thing from wanting to "be pimpin" it--Agh!  Maybe the "rims" are the reason we got such a great deal on our car.  We found it in a little farm town in Illinois, and I'm guessing those "rims" didn't appeal much to the farmers in that community.  For now, I will just have to continue living with the surname SaRayRay, and I am going to "just accept it" (that is a phrase I have learned well from my GrandMary).

My car has been filthy, filthy, filthy.  I am surprised no one has written the words "wash me" on it.  Since today was such a beautiful day, I thought the kids and I could wash the car in the driveway.  I was pleased at what a good job they did.  Just see for yourselves.

And here are the pimpin' rims!

Where was Amelia during all this?  In her little exersaucer of course.  Poor little thing gets put in it a lot, but she doesn't seem to mind as long as she can keep an eye on us.

Mr. Bubbles

Meet Mr. Bubbles.  He has been part of the Junk family for about 4 years now, and the kids have loved him so.  He has provided much fun and laughter to our family.  Unfortunately, Mr. Bubbles decided to quit today.  Maybe he was sick of being underpaid, and underappreciated.  I don't really know what his reasons for leaving us were, but nonetheless he will be missed greatly.

Here Mr. Bubbles is still performing and being productive for us.
Uh oh!  "Mommy he isn't working anymore!"

"See he is just slobbering.  He is messy."

And here Deacon is trying to figure out why Mr. Bubble quit on us (please ignore the snotty nose).
Mr. Bubbles, if you are reading this, please know that we appreciated all the joy you brought to our family over the years, and hope you will have a nice and peaceful life now.

Creative punishment

Yesterday was a clean-up day at the Junk house.  So, basically what that entails is the kids cleaning their rooms and their playrooms, and then I will pick-up/ clean everything else (If Aaron is around, he will help; more often than not he is not around.  I think he plans it that way ;).  As I was busy cleaning up the main floor, I decided to go and check on the kids to see how they were doing.  Well, I just about lost it.  What I saw wasn't my 2 kids cleaning like they were told.  No, they were in Avery's playroom breaking all the crayons!  Are you kidding me?!  My kids know better than that.  We work very hard at teaching our kids to respect their things, so I was completely baffled by what I saw, and I lost it, even think I yelled a little, okay maybe more than a little.   As a part of the consequences, I took away their playrooms for a week.  I know I probably overreacted, but once I say it, I have to follow through.  After I cooled down a little, I remembered looking at this blog.  And, decided to make new crayons out of all the broken ones, just like she instructed.

This is how you do it:
1. Get a pile of all the broken crayons
2. Then peel all of the crayons-whew!  It takes a while, and is a good form of extra punishment if your children ever break crayons!
3.  Sort the crayons into a mini muffin pan-don't forget to spray the pan with some pam (I forgot, and it was a little harder to get them out).
4.  put in the oven at 275 degrees for 7-8 minutes
5. Sit them out and let them cool for a couple of minutes, and then put in the freezer until firm (takes about 10 minutes).
6.  Pop them out of the pans

7.  Color, and enjoy your new fat crayons!
Of course I wouldn't forget to put a pic of Amelia on here.  I love this new headband I ordered, and just ordered a couple more.  They fit her perfectly, and are great for babies without much hair.  I got them from here.
Hope you all had a great weekend. We had fun with my cousin, and her daughter, and hope to see them again soon.

What we've been up to

I am fully aware that I have not been blogging lately.  It seems that I have been spending less time on the computer lately, which I don't necessarily think is such a bad thing (I can waste too much time on the computer).  We have been busy playing outside, having good times with family, and friends, and at the end of the day I have been too tired to get on the computer for any length of time other than to read everyone else's blogs, which of course I always enjoy.
We have also just recently learned that my mother in law has non-hodgkins lymphoma.  She starts her first round of chemo this morning.  Aaron's sister and her family are in town this week, and are staying with us for the next couple of days to take Pam to her appointments and just hang out.  We are thankful for my brother Matt who helped speed up the process of getting Pam into the oncologist much sooner than expected.  Have I ever mentioned what a great guy my brother is? We are very grateful that her prognosis is so good, and can see God's hand is at work in all of this.

The kids have enjoyed riding their bikes.  We have since got Deacon an actual bike helmet, and found a bigger bike for Avery off of craigslist.

I took a few pics of Amelia wearing this shirt that I appliqued (I have a little love for owls lately).
